apparently our cross country trip wasn't that original:
though we did have 2 cats, 4 bikes, a bunch of houseplants, a trunk full of stuff, and went at the hottest time of the year, without AC.

The author of the Gourmet article is Beh Hewitt, son of Geof! I wonder who told him that was Hardwick granite -- of course it was Woodbury granite, cut in Hardwick. I know, nitpicking...
It is all pretty interesting, isn't it? I don't know about "saved" -- we'll see.
